suite. The bedroom has a breathtaking view through
a large picture window.
In addition to the main bedroom is an ante-room,
with an additional double bed.
The bathroom has been called “art”. There are two
types of marble, bespoke cabinetry, cozy shower
niche and a large claw-foot bath.
There’s a tight wood staircase – with low ceilings –
which renders the room unsuitable for people who
would be over-challenged by them. Tall people are fine:
they’re used to looking out for their heads.
Being told he was “mad to consider it” didn’t deter
proprietor Richard Hewetson from investing 8 years
orchestrating the initial restoration of the house. Although no mansion – nor even particularly
large – its exterior detailing delights.
“…the fret-sawn embellishments to the sometime Tyree home in Richardson St are about the
most delicate possible. The verandah has been partly enclosed, but leaving the arcading visible
so the façade still reads as a complete entity”
Partner James Taylor joined Richard in 2001 & there’have been repairs, refinements & additions
aplenty. We engaged empathetic craftspeople who used materials & designs appropriate to the
feel & age of the property.
